.uk domain name registration terms and conditions
Nominet’s terms and conditions
When you register a domain name that ends with .uk you enter into an agreement with JAM internet and also with Nominet, the people who maintain the ‘UK namespace’. Our standard terms and conditions are shown below. Nominet’s are available on their website.
Registering a domain name
You may register a domain name using our website. You are responsible for ensuring that the domain is registered correctly, you can do this by carefully completing the online form, making sure you provide the information requested. It is important you provide full and accurate contact information (that means your name, address, email and phone number – none of which is publicly available). You may choose the length of registration period, from 1 year to 10 years.
Renewing a domain name
Your domain name will have a renewal date and that is set by how long you have registered the domain for (1 to 10 years). Before your renewal is due, we’ll let you know; you’ll get an email from us 30 days in advance, then again 7 days before ‘renewal day’. We’ll encourage you to renew your domain, and make it as easy as possible to do just that. If, sadly, you choose not to renew a domain name then it is your responsibility to cancel any renewal by disabling ‘auto renew’ in your account; and you must do this for each domain you no longer want.
What it costs
All .uk domains are £8 per year, whether that’s a new registration or a renewal. We may need to vary this – up or down – in the future, but if we do so we’ll let you know you before any renewal is due. We don’t charge to move your domain to us, nor to move it away (but we’d rather you didn’t leave).
You must pay the registration fee at the time of registration; we’ve made it as easy as possible to do that all in one go. We accept Visa and Mastercard and if you’re using an iPhone you’ll be offered the choice of using Apple Pay to make the payment. We use Stripe to manage our card payments, just in case you wondered.
We’ve tried to keep things simple, but if there’s something you’re not sure of you can get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.
